Gran Canaria Island is one of the solutions you have to enjoy a longer summer.
This place is perfect for mid-September summer holidays. We spent an incredibly nice week here, under the sun and the 30°C heat. Here are some ideas about your 5-days-stay in Gran Canaria.
Keep in mind that if you want to see a bigger part of the Island, better will be to rent a car or a scooter. We always prefer a car because it is more comfortable and if you want to do some shopping, you will have enough space for your purchases.
Day 1
You can start discovering the Island with this desert place called Maspalomas. Moreover, if you are staying in the south of the island, which is the most touristic place, you can start discovering Grand Canaria slowly, with a nice walk in the sand dunes. If you like chilling on the beach, you can have a break in the San Augustin or Playa del Inglés beaches.
Day 2
Las Palmas is the main city and a mandatory part of your visit when in Gran Canaria. In the North-East of the island, this community has 2 nice beaches : Playa de las Canteras and Playa de las Alcaravaneras. Playa de las Canteras is a good place for having lunch. There are many nice restaurants on the sea side.
Day 3
Canario garden is the place to visit if you like walking and enjoying the beauty of nature. You will need around 2 hours for the visit. When going home, you can make a stop in Las Terrazas mall or El Mirador, or both, just like we did. In the first one, you have lots of outlet shops. In the second one, you will find brands like Zara, H&M, Primark.
Day 4
Mogan is a small fisher village in the North-West of the island. It is a mandatory part of your stay. I highly recommend it. Here, you can spend a whole day, walking the cozy streets, full of flowers. You can also take a paddle boat for an hour to enjoy the beautiful rocks. You can also have a break on the beach or on the beautiful Playa de Los Amadores, in Puerto Rico.
Day 5
Agaete is the place I would recommend the visit the last day or the day before you fly home. This is what we did, but unfortunately, I got sick, because there were a lot, really a lot of wind. This place is in the North of the island, around 26 km from Las Palmas. It is known for its natural swimming ponds. It is really fantastic.
A week is not enough to see all the nice places on the island. These are just several suggestions, in case you decide to spend some days and enjoy the summer or the end of the summer, like me.
Love, Nadia.
Beautiful place and pictures!!!
